Rethinking the bow, with the musician at the centre.
Coruss was born from a simple idea: tradition and innovation do not have to oppose each other.
Coming from the world of violin making, we wanted to question some of the materials and habits that had remained unchanged for generations, while preserving what matters most: the connection between the musician, the bow and the instrument.
That approach has shaped Coruss ever since.
It started with a question.
For years, we had seen musicians face the same problem: equipment that could behave differently depending on its materials, its age or the conditions in which it was being played.
Our first research focused on bow hair. After almost three years of development with musicians and luthiers, Coruss bow hair became the starting point of the brand.
From bow hair to the bow itself.
Our first carbon bows were created to offer musicians a reliable and consistent playing tool, combining a carbon fibre stick with Coruss bow hair.
The objective was not to imitate a traditional bow at all costs, but to explore what modern materials could bring to everyday playing.
Durability, stability, balance and straightforward maintenance became central to the Coruss approach. Our bows are assembled and adjusted in France before being shipped to musicians.
Innovation does not mean abandoning tradition!
As Coruss developed, so did our ranges.
Carbon allowed us to explore modern materials and consistency. Hybrid bows brought together a carbon core and a wood exterior, creating a bridge between contemporary construction and a more traditional feel.
With the Signature Collection, we went further in the opposite direction, returning to pernambuco and traditional bow-making materials while keeping the modern philosophy that defines Coruss.
The Signature bow was created for musicians who remain deeply attached to traditional craftsmanship but are open to a different approach to the bow.
Today, those different ranges allow musicians to choose according to their own priorities rather than according to a single idea of what a bow should be.

A bow cannot be developed only from specifications.
From the beginning, professional musicians and luthiers have played an essential role in the development of Coruss products. Musicians from the Toulouse Chamber Orchestra were involved in testing and refining our first developments, alongside luthiers with whom we had worked for years.
Their feedback helps us look beyond materials and measurements.

Today, Coruss offers bows for violin, viola, cello and double bass, from modern carbon constructions to hybrid and pernambuco models.
Alongside our bows, Coruss bow hair and Coruss rosin form the foundation of a complete approach to the bow, while limited collections and collaborations allow us to continue exploring new ideas in materials, colour and design.
