my understanding from Gemini AI is that coruss is a high-grade synthetic (possibly PEEK based) polymer which is less 'toothy' than incredibow's textured fiber. the colophane rosin is a hard, high-melting point which breaks into dust on the coruss hair after some applications. as a result, i've been lured into using more and more rosin, and was breathing in dust fumes and experiencing scratchy sound. after cleaning it up, i tried andrea, pirasto, and some heinl rosin from the 1970s (which actually seems to work the best). it is possible that coruss hair works better with a softer, stickier rosin than the colophane. i was getting a great sound initially, but the bow started sliding all over the strings afterwards (which led to applying more rosin than i should). also, keeping the hair looser seems to give a much-needed, better grip coefficient. i'll keep experimenting, because the coruss hair is very different than the incredibow hair i've been using for nearly 2 decades.
Hello Prad,
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience and your technical observations with our products! 😊
Our rosin has been specifically developed and produced in our French workshop to offer the best performance with Coruss hair.
It is important to apply it very lightly and progressively from the frog to the tip, as applying too much at once can actually cause the bow to slip or soap up.
If you feel there is an excess of dust or a loss of grip, we recommend cleaning the hair and only adding a tiny amount of rosin. It is important to add it only when you feel the hair needs it, rather than before every playing session.
Please feel free to contact our customer service so we can guide you through these adjustments and ensure you find the perfect sound balance. Have a great day!

Coruss Carbon Bow for Violin
4/4 : 74.5 cm - 60g / White
€209,00How is Coruss Bow Hair different from horsehair?
Traditional horsehair naturally reacts to humidity and temperature changes. Coruss Bow Hair is far less affected by changing atmospheric conditions, helping the bow maintain more consistent tension and performance.
It is also highly resistant, long-lasting and made without animal-derived materials.
How much Coruss Bow Hair should I order?
Our 10 g packs are suitable for violin, viola and cello rehairs.
Our 15 g packs are recommended for double bass bows.
The exact quantity used for one bow depends on the ribbon width, bow model and the luthier’s preferred setup.
Is Coruss Bow Hair affected by humidity and temperature?
Coruss Bow Hair is far more stable than horsehair when exposed to changes in humidity and temperature.
This helps maintain more consistent tension in dry, humid, hot or cold environments.
How long does Coruss Bow Hair last?
With regular use and proper care, Coruss Bow Hair can often last for around two years.
Its lifespan depends on playing frequency, technique, maintenance and the condition of the bow.
Can Coruss Bow Hair be fitted by any luthier?
Yes. Coruss Bow Hair can be fitted by a professional luthier or bow maker.
The installation technique differs slightly from horsehair. The fibre should not be exposed to a flame or direct heat. We can provide technical instructions to your luthier if required.
